"Oh, is she causing trouble?
"The way the faculty describes it, things just seem to get messy whenever she's around."
"I see. Heart of gold, I'm guessing?"
"That's in the report verbatim, sir."
"And her grades, how are they?"
"Not good but --"
"But she shows potential if she applies herself. Yes, I can guess that one easily. And how is she outside of class? Sticking to her studies?"
"No, she keeps getting into dangerous areas and nearly getting killed. We've had to serve her five detentions this term already."
"I see..."
"But for some reason, every time she does get into trouble, she winds up accidentally preventing a much greater calamity. There have been three occasions where the professor who found her decided that she had effectively done time served with her inadvertent service."
"Oh? Oh dear. Hm. Let me ask you this. Does she happen to have a student with which she is constantly in communication with, but antagonistic towards?"
"Yes, apparently one of our full-ride students has a serious rivalry going on with her."
"And our subject is a scholarship student? From a poor background?"
"Brought in from mundane folks, sir. Complete outsider."
"Oh, dear...yes, I think we have major trouble brewing."
"Sir?"
"We will need to prepare, and keep watch. I fear we have a potential Protagonist on our hands."
"A...protagonist?"
"Keep an eye on the girl, and inform me if she falls in love with this rival of hers."
"They're supposedly dating already, sir."
"It is as I feared. We are about to have a category five Adventure on our hands. Inform every professor and secure whatever non-plot-related possessions we can."
"Shouldn't we be coordinating with this student? Perhaps warning her?"
"Only cryptically, my good man! Never directly, until it is nearly too late! And only aid her directly at the last moment, when we can rush in to save the day! We mustn't spoil her character development, we want her to be useful to us for the sequel."
"Sequel? Sir, I don't understand."
"This is a magic school! Things happen in certain ways around here, there's no getting around it, as much as I had hoped. Now go, and hope you are not semi-acquainted with our hero, lest you suffer grievous injury for the sake of her character growth! And good luck, we shall need it."
